Welcome to our site, hope you like it! There's all the normal band type stuff, but the downloads are free, the links are interesting, and the gigs are rare and usually in strange places, so savour each one.

Latest news is that we have a new singer called Leon who's already survived a few gigs and a recording session with us. Leon's a bit of a wizard with a mixing desk so he's remixed a few tracks from the Black album and added his vocal and guitar, you can hear the results on the downloads page. The picture above is the first known siting of Leon in his new environment.

Craig's stepping aside so that we can concentrate on working with Leon, but he'll be busy creating, publishing and generally interfering in the world from his command centre in deepest darkest Wales- you don't have to go there, just go to the links page it's much less scary. He recently did a dj set in Brixton but I missed it due to being on a different continent (rather than planet).

Any other news is on the gigs page, full of incisive gig reports and upcoming dates.

The downloads page is now weighed down by 11 new recordings and 3 videos, and there's more to come.

We recently did some work with Nick, a greek singer songwriter and theatre director, resulting in a recording of three songs that are available on the download page. Many thanks for the studio time which was courtesy of Jason Foster at Alchemea, Europe's top audio engineering school. We had a great day, all the usual stuff like broken leads, frayed nerves, rearranged songs but that's what makes it interesting (and is why we look older than we are!).

A brief history

Formed from the debris of various festival/ squat/ protest bands such as Triptych, Sunsnake, Headjam, Whip the Minister, East of Ealing and eurometalists Orpheus; Pnevma formed in the Autumn of 2002.

They quickly got a strong Space Metal set together & proceeded to play a select few venues (a trend they have continued with to this day). They've played The Ivy House in Peckham 3 times (including a Mad Pride All-Day benefit organised by the inimitable Dave Skull (a close collaborator of Craig's since 1984)).

They played support to Ghost of the Robot at The Garage in London & twice in The Scala (also in London) in 2003, GOTR are the music project of James Marsters (Spike from Buffy). A strange experience for everyone involved; we could easily get used to playing good venues, with good sound and light crews, packed with near hysterical women. As for GOTR; James was nice enough, but his minders have to protect their investment, they need to be careful they don't suffocate him in all that cotton wool.

Apart from this brush with global notoriety Pnevma have played two parties in West Wales. The first was an all-night fortieth birthday party for Carrot of The 24 Carrot sound system in one of the organisation's marquees in 2003. The other was at The Blue Rock Free Festival in Llanfyrnach in 2004, at this festival they had Steve Baker {Triptych & Whip The Minister} guesting on guitar.

Although gigging infrequently until 2006 Pnevma released a studio CD in 2003 the "black" album & a second one in 2006, the "blue" album (can you sense the theme developing here?). Numerous live recordings exist & hours & hours of film archive has been caught. All the music is written by whoever has to play it, and the lyrics have been written by Craig, John & Kostas.

2006 also saw a brief project with Nick, with a recording at Alchemea.

The current line-up features Leon on vocals and guitar, and we're working out what that will sound like at the moment!
